On Friday 7th February 2025 5 Design and Technology students in Year 8 took part in the F1inschools regional final 2025 held at Aston University, Birmingham. Gabriel Thursfield, Ben Ruigrok, Zi Yang Yew, Aydan Tsang and Damian Gill formed Team Coegi, which means drive in Latin. As first time participants they were part of the entry class and along with the primary class were competing against 23 schools from across the West Midlands.

The 3D printed F1 car was designed using CAD software called Onshape and the quality of finish and the creative design really impressed the judges. The f1inschools engineers were particularly impressed with how the car had been assembled from 4 separate parts to enable each aspect of the car to be designed and developed separately. It was incredible to see the car cover the 30 metre racing track in 1.6 seconds.

The pit display really showed off the car and all of the developmental work that had been done over the past few months. We would like to thank Printco, Nottingham for providing the pop up Coegi banner.

Throughout the day our students were required to present to various engineers and judges who were clearly very impressed with all aspects of team Coegi.

We were delighted to have been presented with the judges award for all classes.Print Co logo
