On Monday 11th November, Mr P Cotton, Deputy Headteacher and 15 Service Family Students attended the Remembrance Parade and Service at DMS Whittington.

They gathered on the parade square and were directed to stand between Navy and Army Personnel, who were all in full uniform. They were then surrounded by lines of further military personnel, Marines, Officers and the Civilian workers from the Barracks. It was a short, formal service run by the Padre, there was a short poem read by three primary students from Whittington Primary, the Last Post and the laying of the wreaths. It was very moving and the students were extremely respectful and engaged.

Following the parade  they attended the church on the Barracks for a short service, again run by the Padre. It was a great experience for all involved and we will be sure to have this as a regular item in our school calendar.

The whole school observed a two minutes silence at 11am on Monday (Remembrance Day) to remember those who we have lost.

On Sunday 10th November (Remembrance Sunday) Mr R Larkin, Assistant Headteacher attended Lichfield Cathedral for the Remembrance Service. There were so many students representing the different organisations, looking so smart and so respectful.

After the service Mr Larkin joined the March to the Garden of Remembrance, where he laid a wreath on behalf of all students and staff at King Edward VI School, Lichfield.
