King Edward VI School, Lichfield are the Under 16 Netball Staffordshire County Champions for the second year in a row! A huge congratulations to the team and coaching staff for winning the tournament on Thursday 14th November 2024 at Denstone College. Here is how the tournament played out.

KES played three games in the group stages, and were drawn against a local team, Kingsmead. They needed a strong start in order to go through to the latter stages of the tournament. Never an easy start, but losing their first game 8-9 to St. Joseph’s, this left them with some work to do.

A settling second game, winning 27-0, put them in good stead to play against Kingsmead. The game was so intense, heart rates were high, with each team taking a small lead at times. On the final whistle, the score was 10-10, they then had a nervous wait to see which teams had gone through.

Getting through to the semi-finals by goal difference, they played and beat Newcastle-Under-Lyme in a good match, to then go through to replay St. Joseph’s in the final. At this point, they had progressed to Regional Finals in January 2025, so could just enjoy the final game.

The team played with strength, control and enjoyed every minute, to win at the right time and win the tournament, becoming U16 Staffordshire County Champions for the second year in a row.

Well done to the team and good luck for Regional Finals at the end of January 2025.
