Sports

Our extra-curricular sport is outstanding, with a wide range of activities on offer and high numbers of students attending clubs on a regular basis, enjoying their sport during lunchtime and after school. Our sports clubs are open to all students, with a focus on developing performance skills, knowledge of rules, building friendships and committing to an activity beyond the classroom.

We have our regular sports clubs and some 'pop-up' activities throughout the year. Beyond this, students may be selected for district, county and regional fixtures, representing King Edward VI School, Lichfield in district sports, leagues and national competitions.

We have built strong relationships with sports clubs within the local community and regularly feed students into the different activities where they have shown an interest.

Winter Sports Timetables

Our winter sports timetables are listed below. This timetable will run until Easter. Students are welcome to join and commit to as many clubs as they wish – they need to head to the allocated space (in brackets on the timetable) promptly where a register will be taken. There may be changes if we are heavily over-subscribed and will update the timetable.

Timings

Lunchtime clubs run from 12.35pm until 1.10pm - If lunchtime, we advise them to bring lunch to eat on their way to P4, eat at break time or buy something at the canteen at break time to eat or save until after club. As lunchtime is only 45 minutes, we do not expect students to get changed before afternoon lessons. Students remain in PE kit after a lunch time club or can bring plain navy/black joggers to quickly put over the top of their kit. They will remain in PE kit for the rest of the day unless they have PE P4 and then they will get changed back into uniform at the end of the lesson with everyone else.

After-school clubs run from 3.15pm until 4.15pm/4.30pm – we advise students to ensure they let someone know at home if they are attending an after-school practice. Students can then be collected from the visitor car park or make their way home as usual.

Note for clubs – It is rare that sports clubs are cancelled at King Edward VI. Any amendments will be communicated by the member of staff in charge via briefing notices. Please ask tutors during registration if there is anything on briefing notes.  On occasions, students miss a club session because they heard from a friend it was cancelled, it is always worth checking with the PE department at the Bader office if you think a club has been cancelled.
