Online Safety
At King Edward VI School, Lichfield our goal is to educate and support students in understanding how to lead a positive and safe life online. We do this by providing information through various means, such as our assembly program, PSHE and ICT lessons, and our anti-bullying initiatives. Our students are encouraged to share any concerns with the staff, and we take appropriate action to ensure their safety.
To ensure that all content accessed by our students is appropriate, we have a robust filtering system in place, and we monitor all members of our community when they access our ICT network. If our safeguarding team identifies any concerns through online searches or anything typed onto a networked computer, they are alerted. Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, Laura Hurn, oversees the filtering and monitoring arrangements in school.
We expect all our staff and students to use our network sensibly and follow our Acceptable User agreements. We also strongly advise parents/carers to monitor their child's use of social media, ensure that privacy settings are appropriate, check the nature of posts made online, and ensure that interactions online are not negative.
If you have any concerns related to online safety, please contact us.
